While reading stories submitted to Dear Mormon Friends, I came across the website Letter For My Wife. The ever-curious author studied newly-accessible LDS church resources – which eventually led him out of the church. He pleads for understanding and support from his spouse and children at the outset, since Mormon leadership is pro-divorce when one of a couple stops believing the church is “true.” He then reminds readers that if anything they read seems different or wrong from what they know, it is a natural reaction that they might feel disturbed by the information.

The author begins by listing the various stories of the “sacred” grove and angelic visitations as told by people prior to Joseph Smith’s experience. He cites all resources for readers to investigate for themselves.
